Love - thy name is Mission Falls

The other day, as a reward for passing my oh so easy driving test (who needs to go through serious adversity before rewarding themselves, hey?) I dropped into a new yarn store in Los Gatos called Yarn Dogs.

Cool number plate of Yarndogs owner

It's a relatively small shop compared to the San Jose knitting nirvana, Communknity, but still manages to have a similar funky, welcoming vibe to it. Aside form being home to a gorgeous Cavalier King Charles called Otis, it is also one of the only local places stocking every colour - yes, EVERY COLOUR! - of Mission Falls 1824 superwash wool.

It is probably inconceivable to a non-knitter (or Muggle, as the Harlot likes to refer to them as) but it is entirely possible to want to have babies with the right yarn - & this, my friends, is soooooo the right yarn. It is velvety to the touch (something not often though of when referring to pure wool), comes in an extraordinary range of nature inspired, muted colours (so you are less likely to feel like a dick in your "fashion colour" cardy in a couple of years) & it is SUPERWASH. Weeeeeeee! This is good news on 2 fronts. 1) Receivers of "knitted goods of pure delight" will be able to chuck this in the washing machine. Saving them hours of hand washing & drying flat. 2) The creator of "knitted goods of pure delight" will not have occasion to bite lip until bleeding when receiver destroys expensive gift because they couldn't be arsed with the washing instructions. A double win. And we like those.

Oh - the other supernatural point to make about this yarn (I am having trouble believing that one little ball of wool can have so many good points) is that it is $6.45 a ball.

I'll leave you with some pics of the yarn that has stolen my heart. "Loooooving yoooou, is easy 'cause you're beautiful...."
