The concert was at Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall, the home of the San Francisco Symphony. It's a much more stunning building than this picture shows - a glassy cylinder all golden sparkling. Gorgeous.
The concert hall is also one of the more interestingly designed ones I have seen. The shiny perspex panels you can see in the picture below are raised & lowered according to each piece played & it's sound requirements. Gives you something to watch instead of racing off to purchase ridiculously overpriced drinks.
Snap I snapped just before being informed that photography isn't permitted in the hall.
The program was fab as well. A tribute to light summery Frenchness in all it's glory (or so they say). The Sorcerers Apprentice was a added bonus as it's one of Kynans favourite classical pieces & (due largely to the fact neither of us read the program) we didn't realise it was being performed until the intermission!
Berlioz: Les Nuits d'ete
Debussy: Nocturnes (with Susan Graham the mezzo-soprano)
Dukas: The Sorcerer's Apprentice
