Cat sitting

We are currently cat sitting for some friends who have gone home for a couple of weeks. We are staying in a suburb called Balham which is about 25-30 minutes bike ride from our house. The journey to work is about the same for me (although with an extra train change) & it is about 30 minutes longer for Kynan. We are seeing it as a cheap holiday - a break from the norm.

The main thing I have noticed is that it is really nice to stay somewhere with an oven - something lacking from our current accommodation. So I have been cooking like there is no tomorrow - buying anything that need to be shoved into an oven, just for the sake of it. It has been something I have been missing dearly. If there was a sewing machine & spinning wheel I would be in heaven :)

Other fabulous things about this place are:
- It is larger than our flat. Only by one room (& a backyard) & that makes an enourmous difference.
- It is in a lovely quiet street that appears to be inhabited by families rather than gangs
- The backyard is rather lovely
- The suburb is full of little restuarants & quirky shops (& one impressively rambling bookshop)

I think we are going to enjoy our weeks here.
