Back to life, back to reality

Today Dave & Gab returned from their Australian holiday adventure bring to an end our time in Balham. I was in two minds about leaving. Their house is certanly set up better than ours - they have an oven to start with ! They have also put alot of effort (& money) into making their house into a home. Certainly different from the 'save everything, spend nothing' way we are living at the moment.

Our flat, on the other hand, is small, has no garden of it's own & is devoid of the nicities you assosciate with the warmth of a home. It is, however the most central of places. It is so handy for sightseeing & getting to work. You can jump on your bike & within 5 minutes be riding along the Thames. And that is really cool.

I've found staying there has had a bigger effect on me than I'd expected. I have enjoyed being in a home, rather than an emptyish flat. It has reminded me of all the things that I love to do in life & that has been worthwhile - a bit of a holiday. A reminder of the way I would enjoy living my life if we didnt have bigger things planned.

Plus - their cats are horrid creatures that I can do without ever seeing again. This make the move home even more enjoyable!
