I resolve to make resolutions

I'm not the type who makes resolutions. Mostly because my life history has been one of pulling out of things early or giving up as soon as I feel I've mastered whatever I am doing. I am half okay with this & half constantly disappointed with myself. Setting New Years Resolutions just seems to me to be another way of failing & then heaping shit apon myself for the rest of the year. Frankly, I can do without giving myself any additional grief. Anyone who knows me will understand that I already put a serious amount of time into this already.

Then today - whilst reading through a bunch of blogs & assorted entries on the Knitters Review Forum, I started thinking about a novel way to approach this. I could set resolutions - AND ACTUALLY KEEP THEM. Thereby circumventing the need to thrash myself with a handful of birch during the spares moments of 2006.

Anyway - seems I've missed the New Years Day resolution making & it seems wrong to steal the moniker. I'm going stick with the catchy title "Plans for 2006". I'm going to start small. Give myself a chance at this. Maybe after a few sucessful years I'll move up to "master ancient Greek". But not this year. I'm going to start with:

* Knit one thing per month.

This little jumper was finished days before christmas, so doesn't count. He's just here for encouragement :)

Hurrah! You've got a blog too!

Good on you for riding through London to work - I love riding, but I reckon the traffic and weather would put me off!

Happy new year, hopefully we'll get to see you both this year some time.
