It started with walk down to the bookshop at Elephant & Castle ( which is a much less magical place than it sounds ). I was so lucky to find a stash of cool old craft books. I picked up "Quick Quilts to make in a weekend" by Rosemary Wilkinson for £3. What an absolute bargain.

Then I took a walk over to Borough Market. It's a weekly produce market held on Fridays & Saturdays right on the southern side of London Bridge. It 's wonderful to take a walk around there - the range of produce is so vast, the smells are mouth watering & it makes me forget that I am in the middle of a large rumbling city. The carrot cake is a guiltless delight at only £1.50 (maybe I should be working for the tourist board?)
I took a couple of photos, but haven't had a chance to process them. I expected to take alot more but the carrot cake lead me astray.
Then it was over to watch my boyfriend abseil off the top of the building he works in. Not your average day at work - at least not for him. The British Red Cross were getting volunteers for this event. The idea being that you volunteer to chuck yourself off the top of your building & all of your workmates sponsor you to do so. Presumable the least popular people in the workplace would then raise the most money. He only had one days notice, so managed to get £70 in sponsorship money. Along with that, he go to have an experience that he probably wouldn't have gone out of his way to have. The photo is dark because it was dusk before his turn came up.

Our friend Sam also made the drop. Very brave of both of them I thought. I'd have posted a picture of her too, but one bum in a harness hanging off the side of a building looks much the same as another bum.
After the nerves were settled Sam & I took off across London Bridge & at the spur of the moment decided to go to dinner at a French restuarant we had been wanting to go to - La Cave on the southern side of London Bridge. The food was fabulous & the company was spot on. We chose the "interesting" dishes on the menu & it paid off. There was chorizo & banana on toasted bread (MUCH more fabulous than it sounds) & desert of creme brulee with rosemary (UNDESCRIBABLY good). Again, no photos of the location. I blame it on the brulee & the spell it cast on me. I may be in love with this dessert...

Then it was home to spend the rest of the evening with the lovliest boyfriend the universe ever bestowed on a girl.
What a fab day...
