I Worship at the Temple of Debbie

I have tried to give up the fun stuff - really, if I get a whiff of entertainment, I drop the textbooks & run like hell. No one is ever going to accuse me of being deeply committed to study.

However, in the past 6 months, attempting to foil any plans for a studious life, no fewer than 7 friends have had babies. Come on! Give a woman a break! It's more knitting than anyone could fit in on a casual basis & I have had to down my reading glasses and pick up the needles.

The blanket above is for the lovely Erika and Sean, and thanks to the advances of medical technology we know they are soon to have a daughter they will be calling Amber.

Debbie Bliss has kindly supplied both the pattern and the yarn (they were purchased, I don't mean to make it sound like Debbie has done me a favour here) both of which have proved very popular for the gazillion other new parents I have knitted them for. Cashmerino is the most delightfully soft yarn that you just want to rub all over your face as soon as you pick it up. Which I do whenever I am in a yarn shop and which is perfectly acceptable behaviour to other knitterly types. Thank God. It also has the added characteristic of being machine washable, which is important to new parents who don't want to spend their 2 coherent free hours per day working out how to hand wash a BLOODY KNITTED PRESENT THAT WAS GIVEN TO THEM BY SOME MORON WHO DOESN'T UNDERSTAND HOW HARD LIFE IS FOR A NEW PARENT!!!

Or so I am told.
