Who's got a Woody?

I told myself there would be no blogging today, and as usual, I lied. We are heading off for a long weekend away & I am much further behind in packing, cleaning, organising (insert any verb here) than I usually am. I've accidentally washed the car windows with dirty water (?) & it looks like it have driven to Dakar already... I've squandered most of my day trying to get Kynans birthday present ready for packing... I'm getting into a bit of a state, but you really have to see this.

My first real Woodpecker! Doing real pecking!! Oh God, I nearly wet my pants I was so excited to see this. I could hear a hammering noise outside & I thought it was my crazy neighbours who have taken to doing noisy things at odd times of day. So I head out & here is this cheery redhead thumping his head on our neighbours tree. Seriously - this is enough to make me sit in my yard for hours on end. I feel I could be in danger of turning into a weirdo who lurks in the forest with binoculars.

Of secondary excitement (& only included because, even to me, this seems so ridiculous) is my new beanie. Whipped up at 2am this morning so I could take it on our weekend adventure TO THE FRICKEN DESERT!!! Most days I don't understand myself.

Yarn & pattern from Yarn Place in Sunnyvale. A crowded little shop, lacking in the current razzle dazzle of modern stores, but run by the lovliest, most helpful ladies on earth & full of the most fab yarns. Most of them being their own brand.
