Today Trish, Ashwin & I headed up to the de Young to see the Vivienne Westwood exhibition. I missed it when it passed through Canberra 2 or 3 years ago & was gutted (the problem with living somewhere that has so many good exhibitions is that it is too easy to put things off until they aren't on anymore)
It really is a fabulous collection of her designs ranging the full length of her career, from her relationship (professional & personal) with Malcolm McLaren through to present day. By far my favorite piece were the two beaded bodices - with cuts across them like they had been in a duel. Each bodice was intricately covered with thousands on various flesh coloured beads.
Well worth a look if you are interested in fashion & design at all.
Ash struggled with what was his third trip to a gallery/museum in 2 weeks. So we spent a few hours in the gardens there. It was especially funny when the sprinkler went off on him. Not your ordinary sprinklers mind you, high powered arty farty sprinklers that released this think cloud of water vapor about 2 meters high.
And it was only funny because he kept running to this bit of the garden & Trish had to keep going & getting him. Seconds before the sprinklers went off I was saying "Geez, wasn't it a lot easier to control children when you could smack them?" Then the sprinkler went off & there were no more hassles with him running into that corner again :)
