Give it up for Washington

This weekend is a long one here in the US. It is non officially called Presidents Day long weekend, or officially Washingtons Birthday. No one can make their mind up & various states call this holiday by a different name. The only thing common is that we all get Monday as a holiday (if we usually work, that is)

It is worth noting that this would be an excellent way to illustrate just how stupid it is to have state based designations for things (including public holiday) I mean, can you imagine how ridiculous it would be for NSW & VIC to celebrate Australia Day on different dates & call it different names? Or Kent & the Midlands doing the same with Boxing Day?

Okay, deep breaths. The most important thing is that there is a long weekend & we have chosen to use it wisely. We went off to Monterey to visit the Aquarium. Monterey is surprisingly close to where we live being only an hour & a halfs drive away. That's nothing compared to the line to get into the Aquarium itself!

It was alot more interesting than I had expected it to be. Most of the people I had spoken to about it had been in the middle of school holidays or just not seemed terribly excited by the place. So I was stoked to find it full of jellyfish & anemones - my most favourite sea things.
Unfortunately, my most favourite sea things are a little hard to photograph. These are the best photos from the day.
