Holiday (please Insert 'Christmas') Party

It was Mr Chrubukys workplace Chrissy Party (or Holiday Party as they are so annoyingly called here) last night. It was a typically huge affair, held in 3 mammoth conjoined marquees, with a space theme. One room had a dj, another a band and the final was a sort of astro lounge/ambient kind of vibe with bean bags and projectors playing space kitsch from the 50's.

It was all rather cool.

The photo you see above was taken at one of the 3 photo areas that were set up around the place. Each had a different space back drop and you were encouraged to get into it by acting out some space-like theme. You'd never guess from looking at it, but we stood in line for 20 minutes without once giving our pose a thought. Some people pretended to fly, some did wacky stances with invisible space guns (think Charlies Angels crossed with Star Trek), we looked at each other, employing none of that 'secret understanding' that spouses are supposed to have, sucked our cheeks in and ended up looking like zombie squirrels trying to look thin.

Along with the free photographers there were banks of retro computer games, virtual reality machines and infinite trays of par-tay food. Just add 4 - 6 thousand of your closest Silicon Valley mates and you have a recipe for a terrific start to the Christmas holiday season.
