When Come Back Bring Pie!!!

Last night we had a house warming dinner with the lovely Pollocks. (See one of them above bring mesmerised by the chicken pie) Things hadn't worked out with our timing up until now & it ended up being a Congrats on being pregnant! (Sarah, not me. You can stop having a heart attack mum) & a celebration of 6 months in our flat dinner. Really it was an excuse to do 2 of the things I love the most - spend hours pouring over cook books followed by hours cooking, & sit around with friends eating & drinking.

The meal was the Chicken & Mushroom pie with tarragon pastry from "Slow Cooking" by Joanne Glynn ... much yummier than it looks. My presentation & photography really need a bit of work.

And desert was a plum crumble, using the basic crumble instructions for a crumble from Donna Hays "Modern Classic 2". The plum substitution was made because I had been pleasantly surprised when I found mounds of ripening plums available at the market that morning. Check out the thick sweet juice that came from the fruit during pre-baking. The colour reminded me of the malabrigo yarn I bought the other week. Similar ,vous ne pensez pas?

For anyone reading - oh my god, the chicken pie was simply divine!!!!! Possibly the best pie I've ever had. I ate so much that I felt full for most of the next day still...
