A Minute On The Lips or Pasta, A Visual Odessey

One of my undeclared birthday gifts (undeclared because I was so embarrassed by the wealth of gifts I received, I couldn't bear to bring it out of the cupboard until after my birthday was over) was a pasta machine. I have yearned for one of these as long as I can remember . We are talking pre-school yearnings. Infact wAAAAAAAy back yearnings of when I was a small girl living next door to a gregarious Melbournian Italian family who made pasta in their garage & squeezed my cheeks each time I peeked around the door. Back that far - yes - the time before Palm Pilots, I yearned for a pasta machine.

Now I have the machine, I will begin yearning for the ability to make great pasta. This might take years & many, many trips to Italy until I perfect it.

For now I have the basics. You take flour & eggs.....

You wallop them until they look roughly like this....

You mangle them through one of these beasts...

And in half an hour or so you have enough to comfortably serve mains sized portions to 4!

You stick them in boiling water ( I will save you from looking at a picture of that!) Then cover them with homemade Creamy Roast Pumpkin pasta sauce. And eat. With a happy smile on your face & a full belly.....

And a LOT of cleaning up to do!
