W00t!

My fabulous boyfriend has just been through one of the toughest ordeals of his working life - an 8 month long interview process with Google. He was informed late last night that they wish to make him an offer. It is just an electronic offer at this stage & I'm sure there will be alot of holding of breath until the signed copy is firmly in the hands of the HR folk in Mountain View, CA. All major celebrations will be off until then, but in the meantime we are quietly incredibly happy.

It goes without saying (especially to those who know him) that we are not at all surprised that a company renowned for employing the brightest, most keen IT professionals on the planet would consider him. He isn't the smartest guy on the planet, but he is usually the most intrigued & eager to learn in the room. I have been lucky enough to work in the same team as him & he has always held the mantel of "guy who will know about just about anything (or be able to find out in lighting time), even though he doesn't work in that area".

Finally there is a employer who sees in Kynan exactly what we have known for years. That you pretty much couldn't find a more approachable, helpful & interested guy if you tried - & I am so very proud of him.

Saying all of that, the unbelievable thing is that nearly everyone who has been involved in the interview process has exhibited the same traits. There have been a phenonimal group of people who have helped Kyn through this. Andrew Pollock has been an incredible support. I think it is fair to say Kynan will spend a reasonable amount of time trying to make this up to him when we finally get to California! His recuiter, Debbie, has also been more than professional & has helped answer all questions asked (multiple emails, on the same day, multiple times!), and all of the inspiring & enthusiastic people he has met along the way. They made the interview process alone an incredibly valuable experience.

(Excuse the crazy emotionality, I had 2 hours of sleep last night!)
