I was mulling around the house today when Kynan called from work & suggested I ride in & meet him at work. I wasn't thrilled with the idea (being essentially a sloth at heart) but rode in anyway & ended up having a fab day.
We found out that the Vietnamese "section" of town (if a gathering of about 10 shops consitutes a section) is just up the road from where Kyn works. We'd seem some reviews for a few of the places & went in search for some tasty pho. Viet Hoa Cafe, Kingsland Rd, Shoreditch (part of Hackney) was a winner. It was the combo fo great tasting (cheap) food in a place with minimal decoration that would otherwise have you walk past the place. I'm sure we'll be back there (after checking out all the other restuarants along that strip of road!)

After that we found the Geffrye (pron. Jeffrey) Museum. This is a museum celebrating interior decoration in Britain over the ages. Set in a wonderful building & offering free admission (like so many of the museums & galleries in London) it was an interesting way to spend the afternoon. We'll be back there after April when the walled herb garden is open to visitors.
Thanks to Kynan & his erratic riding style (think inquisitive cat on amphetamines) we also managed to make it to the bottom of 30 St Mary Axe - or The Gherkin as it is more often called. It's not open to the public as it is stacked full of offices. Just down the road is the Lloyds building which, in my mind, looks like a giant milk pasturising machine. It was designed by the same architect as the Georges Pompidou Centre in Paris (Richard Rogers) & draws heavily from it's influence. Just 2 examples of the most awesome array of buildings available to gawk at in London.
The afternoon was capped off with the most delicious hot chocolate had at the Borough Markets. After cycling about in the cold for a couple of hours, it was very well recieved :)

My most favourite memories of London will be these days when we get a chance to go out & explore.
